BCT
Company Profile
EnquiriesGood communication and behaviour change skills are essential for working effectively with patients as well as their families and carers. Established in 1998, Behaviour Change Training (BCT) courses have been developed by working with experts in the field and has constantly evolved to meet the ever changing needs of healthcare.
Practitioners need to be able to communicate effectively to form helping relationships with patients, their families and carers and ultimately, to support them in making decisions that are right for them and will have a positive impact on their health.
BCT equips participants with the knowledge and skills to enhance current practice and to become more effective healthcare practitioners. We invest heavily in facilitators who support each participant individually throughout the course. Our facilitationratio is based on Allen Ivey’s Model and we have 1 facilitator per 3 participants on the Part One and 1 facilitator per 4 to 6 participants on the Part Two and Three.
This means that each participant receives practical support and guidance in building and embedding new skills and knowledge. We believe this high level of facilitation makes our training unique.
Behaviour Change Training was founded in 1998 by Dympna Pearson. It was born out of a desire to understand what influences health behaviour and how practitioners can utilise this, making a difference to the experience of individuals requiring help and support to make healthy choices in their everyday life.
In 2019 the business transitioned ownership to Sam Howard and Lynda Rigley under the Sunlight Nutrition Umbrella. Sam and Lynda are experienced dietitians and have seen the value of using behaviour change skills in everyday practice. It both greatly improves the patient experience and job satisfaction.
