Dr Vicky Lawson
Dr Vicky Lawson is Principal Health Psychologist at Talking Therapies Southwark, South London and Maudsley NHS Trust (SlaM), a visiting guest lecturer on the Health Psychology MSc at King’s College London and University College London, and an independent consultant for several commercial companies. She is also Psychology Clinical Champion for Physical Activity at Public Health England.
As a Chartered Health Psychologist, Vicky has a particular interest in the interface between physical and mental health. Vicky has worked for over a decade as a researcher, public health consultant, and clinician investigating how behaviour change strategies and the implementation of psychological methods can help to unpick the complexity of why we can struggle to make lifestyle changes, both at population and individual level. Vicky has published widely on health psychology in a range of journals, most recently a series of six articles for the British Journal of Nursing on the application of health psychology in physical healthcare. She is passionate about translating evidence based approaches into practical application and has extensive experience of training other professionals from a variety of backgrounds in behaviour change approaches.
